BOUQUET

(2018)

EDIT_1_1-45.jpg

Bouquet is an on-going installation project that begins with an antique vase owned (and broken) by Brucker’s grandmother and repaired by her grandfather. Emerging from the vase are changing arrangements differently fabricated for each exhibition theme or exhibition space, but always including collected materials from Brucker’s family. Brucker uses these heirloom objects to uniquely reconstruct the piece, thereby creating multiple versions of the work. In 2018, as part of her 25-year survey, Fragile Thoughts, at the Long Beach Museum of Art, Brucker completed Bouquet as an installation in the museum stairway leading to the second floor exhibition galleries. This version combined wood, flowery buttons, metal chain, spindles, thread, silk and feathers to create a meditation on the ecology of womanhood and innocence.
