Fragile Thoughts, Jane Brucker's 25-year survey on view at LBMA through January 2019, represents her exploration of personal and collective history, mortality and fragility.
Join the artist in a discussion of her exhibition, Saturday December 1, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. Brucker will be joined by physiologist and medical historian Jeremy Wasser, Ph.D. They will present viewers with a perspective on Elizabeth Milbank Anderson’s contributions to public health in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Elizabeth Milbank Anderson inspired Brucker’s newest work, Fragile Thoughts, and is a collaboration with Judson Studios.
In Brucker's exhibition, objects and materials are transformed through her attention to detail. Simultaneously, narrative passages from her own family invite the audience to relate to shared themes and stories.
This detail features Brucker’s hand-painted stained glass and “came work.” Came glasswork, or caming, is the process of assembling cut glass pieces together using a soft metal, such as the lead grid in this work.
After 18 years, Memorial Project, is now comprised of over 300 panels created from donated articles of clothing given to the artist by friends and family of those who have passed away—many recently donated
The exhibition is on view through January 2019 during regular museum hours:
